Looking for the best air fryer for your money? The Tefal Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer & Grill is one of two air fryers that recently appeared in Jamie Oliver’s Channel 4 show Air Fryer Meals. This versatile dual-drawer air fryer has two different capacity cooking spaces, eight presets and is available in black, coal and a modern stainless steel finish. Read to to find out what we liked about it – and what was not so good – when we put it through its paces.

Like many viewers of Jamie’s cooking show, we were attracted to the sleek reflective finish of the stainless steel version of this air fryer. You may be surprised to discover it’s surprisingly easy to keep clean – more so than many of the high-gloss black air fryers – and if for some reason you aren’t a fan of the reflective finish, you can also buy a version in black or ‘coal’, which is a shade of grey.
We also applaud Tefal’s sustainability efforts: their products come with a 15-year repairability commitment, meaning this air fryer has been specifically designed to be easy to dismantle and reassemble and that spare parts will be available for at least 15 years.
When it comes to cooking, the Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer & Grill is simple to get started with without having to read the instruction book and the presets all have symbols that represent different things you might wish to cook. For instance, the cupcake symbol is for the bake setting and a picture of fries signifies a setting for both chips and roast potatoes.
There’s been a lot of discussion about how practical two different-sized air fryer drawers are and, as ever, it depends on how you intend to use this appliance. While it’s true that the smaller drawer means you cannot cook two whole chickens at the same time, you can cook a substantial joint of meat in the 5.2-litre drawer and a side dish in the smaller 3.1-litre drawer. We also liked the versatility of having a choice of cooking spaces, particularly as the smaller drawer is perfect for cooking for one.

The larger drawer comes with a heavy griddle plate which is designed to be used with the grill function. When preheated this warms up enough to leave grill marks on your steaks, which is not something we have seen in an air fryer before.
This air fryer has a more limited temperature range from 40ºC to 200ºC. When we did our standard test with roast potatoes it was noticeable that after 10 minutes the Tefal potatoes were barely cooked while potatoes cooked in other air fryers are ready to serve at this point. Our tests lead us to conclude that the Tefal is slower than many other air fryers, but it will still cook quicker than a conventional oven, as no pre-heating is required.
Although this air fryer was instinctive to use at the beginning, there were several things we wanted to do during the testing period that were missing from the instruction book and we could only find out how to do them by trial and error and searching the internet.
We also found it frustrating that it wasn’t possible to increase the cooking time or temperature once the program had started, especially given that we believe this air fryer to be slower than average.
One thing we are surprised that the manufacturers have overlooked is an audible alert at the end of the cooking time. Although the Tefal Dual Drawer has a shake alert halfway through the fries program, there’s nothing to tell you the cooking time has come to an end – the machine just turns itself off.

We cooked our most popular delicious. cake, the simple chocolate cake (quantities reduced for a 16cm tin), and noted how long it took to cook (as indicated by a clean skewer and firm top). In this case the result was 19 minutes. It was also used to cook a range of family dishes over a two-week period.
The Tefal Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer & Grill  is an attractive-looking air fryer that would suit a modern kitchen. Its asymmetrical drawer design makes it very versatile when cooking for different numbers of people and we like the griddle plate for grilling but it was one of the slower air fryers that we have tested.
